Dears,
I woke up with a terrible migraine and will not be able to join a the zoom meeting in the next hours. Super sorry!
Let me answer your questions quickly w some bullet points and after that I lay down.
- Do you have experiences of online raving?
I have actively searched for online rave/music formats from second one of the logdown, because I am also an organizer myself. In the meantime I have seen many different things, formats and rooms.
what workedWhenever I went into a room/ online format with a group/friends, it worked.
In general everything that is visually strong. In most cases I have looked at whole sets if the visuals were good (and when they where short like 20 minutes to 30 minutes).
I only danced when I was connected with other people. In this case the private chat was really important. It was never integrated in the platforms, and took place on Telegram.
The one time I was really dancing/raving at home, I prepared myself for the event, kepted the evening free, have made my environment cosy, made an online appointment with friends. After the rave it was actually very hard to be alone at home, after this feeling of connectivity and intimacy that came though the music and the chat. So maybe aftercare can also be something you can think about.
In fact, when I think about it, I also was most likely to stay or to watch a set, if I knew the people who played and if the live streams were „authentic“. I remember watching a live set (and dancing a little) bc the friends of mine that where DJ-ing where a little drunk and it was very cute to watch. Also there was the chat (this time on facebook) that I enjoyed very much.
didn't work for you? When I went alone I usually just checked out the form and design, tried out all possible features and then left. Even when I DJ'd myself, I never made it through a whole set of someone else.
Overall, I believe that we need to learn online raving as much as we need to learn the rules of all other spaces we enter.
At the moment it is not yet clear what I have to do to make an onlinerave "successful" for me. We all still lack the experience to do this. We can invent and explore this together.
I will answer this question later, sorry! How do you want/feel comfortable being in a digital space, how should your phsical body be in digital dimension? Do you feel the digital spaces you inhabit in your everyday life are inclusive? If not what would you like to change?
Best!
U.
